Strength Exercise: Everything You Need to Know

If you are of what they want to strengthen their muscles and burn fat and lose weight and burn calories .. Continued well this article Strength exercise, or resistance training, works your muscles by using resistance, like a dumbbell or your own body weight. This type of exercise increases lean muscle mass, which is particularly important for weight loss, because lean muscle burns more calories than other types of tissue. When people drop pounds, they can also lose muscle, so it's important to do resistance training to keep that muscle mass.

"You can lose weight quickly [by] doing other stuff, but you're not going to keep it off [in the] long term if you don't maintain lean muscle mass," said said Kelly Drew, an exercise physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine. [The Best Way to Keep Weight Off]

People also naturally lose muscle mass as they age, so resistance training is important for older adults. Having strong muscles can make it easier to do everyday activities, like gardening or taking your suitcase out of an overhead bin on an airplane, said Jason Schatzenpahl, a fitness specialist at CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center in Aurora, Colorado

Examples of strength exercises include:

Lifting weights
Using resistance bands
Using your body weight for resistance, by doing push-ups, pull-ups, crunches, leg squats or push-ups against a wall
Using weight machines at a gym
Benefits of strength exercises include:

Increased lean muscle mass (or prevention of its loss)
Increased bone density and reduced risk of osteoporosis
Increased metabolism to help with weight loss or weight maintenance
Increased muscle strength to make everyday activities easier
Lowered risk of injury (by allowing the muscles to better support the joints)
In addition, some of the benefits that are perhaps traditionally associated with aerobic exercise can also be gained by doing strength training. For example, a 2009 review study found that resistance training reduces people's blood sugar levels and improves sensitivity to the hormone insulin, which helps blood sugar get inside cells.

How much strength exercise do you need to do?

The HHS' physical activity guidelines recommend doing resistance-training exercises at least two days per week. These exercises should work all of the major muscle groups in your body — your legs, hips, back, chest, abdomen, shoulders and arms.

For each muscle group that you exercise, you should try to do at least eight to 12 repetitions of an activity (like lifting a weight), according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To get the benefits from the exercise, you need to work the muscles to the point where it's difficult for you to do another repetition, the CDC says.

But you shouldn't exercise the same muscle group two days in a row, because your muscles need time to recover, according to the National Institutes of Health.

How can you avoid injury when doing strength training?

It's very important that you have the correct form and body position when you do resistance training. "If you do some of these exercises poorly, with bad technique, you can injure yourself," said said Dr. Edward Laskowski, co-director of the Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center in Rochester, Minnesota. You may need to work with a professional trainer, or watch exercise videos online, to make sure you use the correct technique.

If you're just starting out, you should use a light weight that you can lift or push at least eight times, the NIH says. Once it becomes easy to lift this weight, gradually add more weight. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends that when you are comfortable lifting a certain weight, you should increase the weight by about 2 to 10 percent, and then work on lifting this heavier weight until it again becomes comfortable.

Bird flu back again in the Canadian city of Ontario

Bird flu back again in the Canadian city of Ontario
Canada, Ontario experienced a state of terror and panic after the discovery of cases of bird flu sweeping the duck farm
A low-pathogenic H5 avian influenza outbreak struck a duck farm in southern Ontario, Canadian officials announced yesterday, as new details emerged about the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain plaguing flocks in West Africa over the past 2 years

After a several-year hiatus, the H5N1 virus reemerged in West Africa in 2014, but according to the new study, recent outbreaks have been fueled by a different H5N1 clade. The continent's fresh round of outbreaks has led to the deaths of about 1.6 million birds

Further tests under way in Ontario
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) said yesterday that the farm is near St. Catharines, Ontario, and that further tests are under way to determine the virus subtype and strain, with results expected within days

Authorities put the farm under quarantine to curb the spread of the virus and will determine a surveillance zone and movement restrictions. Once the birds are culled, the CFIA said it will oversee cleaning and disinfection of the barns and other equipment and materials at the farm

Distinct H5N1 genetic groups in Africa
An analysis of 43 genomes from H5N1 isolates collected from poultry and wild birds in five African countries in 2015 revealed two genetic groups within the 2.3.2.1c clade, along with mutations that could allow them to more easily infect mammals. Italian scientists and their African collaborators reported their findings yesterday in Emerging Infectious Diseases

The team looked at H5N1 viruses collected from African nations, confirming findings in five countries: Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Niger, Ghana, and Cote d'Ivoire. Since then, Cameroon has also reported H5N1 outbreaks in poultry. Complete sequences were obtained from 39 viruses, with partial sequences from 4

Analysis revealed the 2.3.2.1c clade, closely related to H5N1 viruses that circulated in Europe and Egypt in 2014. Phylogenetic testing revealed two distinct clusters in Cote d'Ivoire and Niger, which researchers said suggests at least two distinct introductions into West Africa

Also, the West African H5N1 viruses were highly similar to one isolated from a Canadian resident who got sick after a trip to China. The team said the viruses have mutations associated with enhanced binding to respiratory tract cells and increased virulence in mammals

Although bird flu outbreak and its devastating effects on the economy of any country where the spreads, especially poor African nations, it's vital for regional and national groups to work together to describe and track the evolution of the virus in the recent round of virus spread, the group concluded

Novel H2N8 detected in China
In other research developments, Chinese investigators detailed a novel H2N8 virus isolated from a domestic duck in Zhejiang province in 2013. They reported their findings Jun 5 in Virus Genes

The reassortant from multiple subtypes from aquatic birds and poultry in eastern Asia turned up during surveillance of live-poultry markets

Tests with the novel H2N8 in mice showed low pathogenicity, but it replicated in their lungs without prior adaptation, according to the researchers, who said the findings show the importance of market duck surveillance for assessing possible threats to poultry and humans

Intact’s commercial ridesharing insurance policy gets green light in Ontario

Insurance of the important things in human life
              ...... This article is continued

The Financial Services Commission of Ontario has approved a commercial ridesharing insurance policy offered by Intact Financial Corporation (IFC) in partnership with Uber Canada

The coverage will “apply from the moment drivers make themselves available to accept a ride request until passengers have exited the vehicle,” the statement notes. IFC’s Intact Insurance and belairdirect “have modified their underwriting guidelines to allow customers to participate in ridesharing at no additional cost for drivers. Customers simply have to call their broker or agent before participating.”

This is the same approach currently being used by IFC in Alberta

Of Intact’s latest offering in Ontario, “this unique product will benefit both drivers and passengers, and speaks to how insurance is evolving to meet the needs of consumers,” says Karim Hirji, IFC’s senior vice president, International & Ventures

“It will also now be easier for other personal lines insurers to permit drivers to participate in ridesharing using their personal automobile given that the commercial portion of rides are covered by Intact,” Hirji continues

Aon Risk Solutions explains that as Uber’s insurance broker, it has “developed a comprehensive understanding of the business, driver tendencies and coverage requirements, resulting in a personal insurance product unlike others available in the marketplace.”

Developed in partnership with Intact, the solution is not restricted by driver age, years licensed or number of weekly ridesharing hours, Aon Risk Solutions, the global risk management business of Aon plc, notes in a statement

It points out that the company created an online quoting tool for Uber drivers, which allows drivers of the ridesharing company to receive a quote in seconds by taking a photo of their licence or entering their driver’s licence number

“Ridesharing continues to grow at a rapid pace and is changing how we travel,” Caroline Mills-White, senior vice president of personal lines for Aon Risk Solutions in Canada, says in the statement. “As a result, insurance must evolve to meet the changing needs of drivers and passengers alike in Ontario.”

Both IFC and Uber “remain engaged with regulators across Canada to bring new ridesharing insurance policies that offer a smart, seamless and simple solution for driver-partners,” notes Uber Canada general manager Ian Black

“As the Ontario government introduces legislation related to the sharing economy in the coming months, this product will continue to evolve,” the statement adds.

Effective Thursday, the Ontario government approved a regulatory change allowing “commercial fleet insurance to be offered for vehicles that can be hired through an online application.”

Ontario auto insurers “can now develop insurance policies for purchase by ride-share companies,” notes a statement from the provincial government. “This closes the gap in auto insurance coverage for those drivers carrying paying passengers through ridesharing services.”

Among other things, the definition of “fleet” has been changed to a “group of not fewer than five automobiles” that meets the several requirements

Exercise mostly beneficial for pregnant women, study says

Exercise of useful things for men and women
Today we will know the new way to exercise for pregnant women
  Continued the following article

PHILADELPHIA, July 7 (UPI) -- Although women are often warned about the dangers of exercising while pregnant, a review of clinical trial data suggests exercise is safe for both mother and fetus

Exercise during pregnancy does not increase the risk of pre-term birth and lowers the chance of a medically necessary cesarean section, researchers at Thomas Jefferson University found in the study

Many of the previous studies conducted on pregnant women found that exercise does not pose health risks to pregnant women.
And it's those that reduce complications during pregnancy
women continue to be scared away from all kinds of exercise while pregnant

"The thinking was that exercise releases norepinephrine in the body, which is a chemical that can stimulate contractions of the uterus, and thus lead to preterm birth," Dr. Vincenzo Berghella, director of maternal fetal medicine at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, said in a press release. "But numerous studies including this new meta-analysis, have since shown that exercise does not harm the baby, and can have benefits for the mom and baby."

According to a study published in the US Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecologyresearchers pooled data from nine previous studies,
focusing on 1,022 women who exercised for 35 to 90 minutes 3 or 4 times a week during pregnancy, and 1,037 who did not. The worm were mainly normal weight with uncomplicated pregnancies

Women who exercised were found to have similar rates of preterm birth, similar weights at birth and their babies were born at a similar gestational age as those who did not exercise

Women who exercised gave birth vaginally 73 percent of the time and 17.9 percent of them had a c-section, compared to 67 percent for those who did not exercise giving birth vaginally and 22 percent required a c-section

Research has shown that pregnant women who did not exercise aerobics suffered from disorders, high blood pressure and multiple cases of diabetes
Compared with those women who excercise, suggesting worthwhile health benefits for women who exercise

"There are many reasons women pull back on exercise during pregnancy -- discomfort, an increase in tiredness and feeling winded by low level exertion," Berghella said. "This paper reinforces that exercise is good for the mom and the baby and does not hold any increased risk preterm birth."

China puts finishing touches on World's biggest radio telescope

China is the next scientific state after the United States and Europe, where the work is unique in astronomy
China has given the finishing touches on the biggest radio telescope in the world. The telescope’s 1,650-foot-wide dish is going to scan the universe for clues of intelligent alien life, and numerous other tasks.

China's state-run Xinhua news agency reported that technicians installed the last of the 4,450 panels on Sunday July 3, creating the giant dish of Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope's (FAST).

Xinhua reported that soon, the members of project team will start testing and debugging FAST, following which Chinese scientists are going to use it for ‘early-stage research’. But, astronomers worldwide will get access to the instrument after the completion of that phase, probably after a couple of years from now

FAST has a dish with size of 30 football fields, making it by far the biggest single-aperture telescope worldwide (however arrays associating multiple radio dishes cover more ground). The previous record holder in the field was the 1,000-foot-wide (300 meters) Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico

FAST has been created in China's Guizhou Province, over 1,240 miles southwest of Beijing. Project officials said that the 1.2-billion-yuan facility would aid scientists get more information regarding the early days of the universe, low-frequency gravitational waves detection and look out for signals that could have been produced by remote alien civilizations

As per Xinhua report, FAST Project chief scientist Nan Rendong said, “As the world's largest single-aperture telescope located at an extremely radio-quiet site, its scientific impact on astronomy will be extraordinary, and it will certainly revolutionize other areas of the natural sciences”

Project team members will soon begin testing and debugging FAST, after which Chinese scientists will use it for "early-stage research," Xinhua reported. But the instrument will be available to researchers around the world when that phase is over — likely two to three years from now

With a dish the size of 30 football fields, FAST is by far the largest single-aperture telescope in the world (though arrays that link up multiple radio dishes cover more ground). The previous record holder in the field is the 1,000-foot-wide (300 meters) Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico

"China completed construction on the telescope — the $180-million Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope, or FAST — this week by hoisting the last of its 4,450 triangular panels into place," according to a news report published by LATimes

“The project has the potential to search for more strange objects to better understand the origin of the universe and boost the global hunt for extraterrestrial life,” said Zheng Xiaonian, deputy head of the National Astronomical Observation under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which built the telescope, according to the official New China News Agency

“With [FAST], we can explore pulsar, black holes swallowing small objects, the evolution of stars, and the origins of the universe, and connect it with other radio-telescopes within the country to create a virtual super telescope,” Science Communication China, an official institute under the China Association for Science and Technology, said in a February column that was widely republished online in recent days

Have fun this summer without compromising with skin protection

Of the basic things to keep the skin from cancer in the summer is to apply generous coating of sunscreen. It gets all the more important as over five million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed annually, unveils the American Cancer Society. The number is more than breast, prostate, colon and lung cancer cases combined

Dr. Deborah Sarnoff,, said that the condition with regard to skin care is not smooth at all. To have better skin protection, Sarnoff has suggested a comprehensive program, including a hat, sunglasses, wearing shades and avoiding to step out in the sun

He then stressed on the use of sunscreen. But as per Consumer Reports, 53% of people have said that they have rarely or never used sunscreen. Sarnoff suggested that think sunscreen as vital as you take toothbrush for your teeth or any other grooming activity

Dermatologists said that the skin damage should be considered as cumulative. It means that harmful rays are affecting when you are walking to a nearby place and looking through the window during eth day. But if you apply sunscreen on every day basis then it will give more protection and prevent skin from premature aging

When it comes to the application of sunscreen then a person should apply it every inch of exposed skin. In order to provide deep coverage, sunscreen needs to be rubbed. It takes 30 minutes for skin to completely absorb sunscreen lotion irrespective of the fact that what SPF label it is carrying. Also, Human to need sunscreen to re-apply every two hours

It becomes all the more important for those who heavily perspire like runners and cyclists to frequently apply sunscreen. Experts from The American Academy of Dermatology have suggested to use sunscreen having SPF 15. But Dr. Elizabeth Hale, dermatologist from NYU has suggested to apply a higher level sunscreen of at least SPF 30

In addition, an expert from Skin Cancer Foundation has suggested that people should not use sunscreen carrying SPF level above 50 as the extra protection is considered negligible and might not prove effective. To cite an example, SPF 50 blocks 98% of UV rays and SPF 100 blocks 99%

Consumer Reports has put to test more than 50 sunscreens. All of them were carrying SPF 30 or higher. Main aim was to check if they meet their advertised SPF claims as mentioned on the bottle. The results were found to be dismal

Trisha Calvo of Consumer Reports said, “We found that 43 percent of them did not meet their SPF claim. Some of them missed it by a little bit and some of them missed it by a long shot”

The Skin Cancer Foundation has shared that higher SPF sunscreens provide slightly more protection and no SPF blocks all ultraviolet (UVB) rays. There are UVA and UVB rays, out of which the former one is more potent and the broad spectrum sunscreen proves quite beneficial in this case

UV rays are a major threat to the skin where penetrates the skin to a maximum depth and can lead to wrinkles and can also apply to skin cancer. On the other hand, UVB rays are responsible for
causing skin to burn and are the chief reason of skin cancer

A treatment by a licensed professional can provide a deeper cleaning and exfoliation than what you can do at home. Whether you are interested in anti-aging or acne treatment, have sensitive skin or want to help resolve damage from the sun and the environment, there is a facial that can address your concern. If you have already experienced some skin damage due to the sun, a facial will help reverse the signs of aging form environmental factors such as sunlight

"An SPF, or sun protection factor, of 30 is the minimum recommended by the American Academy of Dermatology. The number represents a relative measure of how long you can stay in the sun before getting burned. So, if a person normally burns in 10 minutes, an SPF 30 would give them 30x 10 minutes in the sun, if applied correctly," according to a recent CNBC News report

The main reason for the burning of the skin and skin cancer is ultraviolet radiation we are exposed to. However, prolonged exposure to UVA rays which penetrate deeper into the skin can lead to wrinkles and can also contribute to skin cancer. "I recommend that you look at your own skin every month, what we call a self-exam," said Dr. Sarnoff. If you find something, she said do not hesitate to seek attention. "The really nice thing about specializing in skin cancer is that it's curable. Early detection, it's 100 percent curable."

Sunscreen lotions are often equipped with different variants of SPF levels. Expert from The American Academy of Dermatology suggests wearing sunscreen SPF 15 regularly but Dr. Elizabeth Hale, dermatologist from NYU advices a higher sunscreen SPF level - at least SPF 30. In addition to that, an expert from Skin Cancer Foundation also recommends people Not to go above SPF 50 as the extra protection is considered negligible and may not be effective. For a comparison, SPF 50 blocks 98 percent of UV rays whilst SPF 100 blocks 99 percent

Procter & Gamble once conducted a sunscreen rating test in five different labs. The company found that sunscreen lotion claimed to have SPF 100 - only had SPF range between 37 and 75, EWG's Guide to Sunscreen shared. Hale also recommends replacing sunscreen lotion every season if it is often exposed to heat. Sunscreen lotion and spray are best kept in cool, dry place to maintain the quality up to two years
